Keeping Our Island Green

Grenada fruits and productsGrenada fruits and products Living on this small, beautiful island has given us many reasons to become more responsible for our environment.
Practical considerations like the threat of no water or a power failure just at dusk have had an influence, but it's easy to form new ideals, as there are no recycling plants on an island with just 100,000 inhabitants.

It is up to us to find ways to make Almost Paradise as environmentally friendly as possible.

Here are some of the systems we use...

Renewable resources Environmentally friendly products Natural products
SOLAR ENERGY
for lighting, fans, music
BIODEGRADABLE
detergents, garbage bags
ORGANIC fruit, herbs, cheese, cocoa for restaurant use

RAINWATER
for laundry, toilets, showers, garden, etc.

REUSABLE PACKAGING
like bottles and cloth shopping bags
COMPOSTING
to save on garbage and for garden use
WIND
for natural ventilation in all buildings
SWITCHES
to automatically regulate fan and hot water use

CLEANING
with hot water, vinegar, baking soda
SUNSHINE
for drying laundry
ENERGY SAVING LIGHT BULBS
We are always looking for new ways to preserve our natural environment, and we encourage our guests to participate and contribute their own ideas. After all, we're still only ALMOST ECO!
